ABOUT THE FILM:     A single mother and her mute son are the centerpiece of a mystic saga of strange and enigmatic gunslingers. Emma and her only son William have a brutal encounter with the Devils 3, an evil trio sent by an Elder Gunsmith to retrieve a mystic and powerful object whose purpose is unknown to all except the Gunsmiths.      Left for dead in the brutal encounter, William emerges 15 years later as Killswitch Billy, a hard and darkened avenging cowboy with mystical gun slinging abilities. His purpose is to avenge the brutality of the Devils 3 as well as recover the mystic box that once belonged to his estranged father.  Source: creatureentertainment.com
CAST:     Lincoln Potwin, Bryan Power, Miranda Khan, Gabriel Suttle, Joseph Velez, Norbert Velez, John Ulloa, Ana Ulloa, and Chris Caputo.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:     Chicago-native and Miami-transplant, Anthony Dones has been shooting films for nearly two decades. His cinematography credits include ‘The Gun’, ‘Killswitch Billy’, the ‘Dark Knight’ fan films, and ‘Quarterlifers’, as well as countless music videos and industrials. As a Puerto Rican in Chicago in the 80′s, Anthony entertained the idea of becoming a ‘freestyle’ music artist–writing songs, producing freestyle tracks and frequenting his friend’s basement studio. He is an artist in almost every respect–writing, art, music, philosophy, photography and cinematography–which is why he is passionate about film.  Film is the only medium that allows him to express the multiplicity and range of all his artistic talent within one medium. His approach to cinematography is driven by his quest to capture the art, emotion, movement, the play between light and dark, and the spirituality of the human condition. An avid comic book fanboy, Anthony at one time had a $200 a month habit collecting comics, the coolest covers of which wallpapered his bedroom.  Source: creatureentertainment.com

15:20 minutes/US/English / Short Narrative/Horror
Directors: Julio Alvarez and Juan Navarro*

MIAMI PREMIERE / Filmed in Miami
ABOUT THE FILM:      ZOMBIE YEARS: THANKS GRANDPA is a short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic Miami, Florida overrun by the living dead. When all that exists is death, it takes more than survival to understand life, and we see Delilah “Del” Esquinosa go about this in her own way, from finding a new companion… to keeping old ones. What is family, friends, or even life itself when faced with the dead who won’t DIE?       THANKS GRANDPA is a vignette prequel based on the ongoing web-comic ZOMBIE YEARS (zombieyears.com). It tells the story of one of its main characters, Delilah “Del” Esquinosa, and what she did before she met her compatriots. It ties in directly to the story line of ZOMBIE YEARS.  Source: creatureentertainment.com/projects/film/zombie-years-thanks-grandpa/
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS:      Julio Alvarez -- Global wayfarer and student of the elements of ‘the story’, Julio Alvarez, is dedicated to revealing the detail and hyperrealism of the moment. His photographic and filmic artistry reflects his curiosity for–and ability to capture–the immediacy, expression, limitless beauty, entertainment and innate importance of the narrative, whether that story is a movie or in a still photograph. He received training in the Theater Arts as a student of the Center for Expressive Arts under Lou Alexiou and the Performing and Visual Arts Center (a precursor to the New World School of the Arts). Julio’s rolling stone tendencies have led him to live and work all over the U.S., Europe and Central Asia. He has worked as a sound recording engineer, producer and mixer for over two decades. As a filmmaker, he has worked on corporate industrials, independent narrative films, promotional films and music videos in the capacity of director, shooter, location sound mixer, sound designer and editor. Julio’s curiosity for the nuanced details of a good story and his expertise in the technical components of picture and sound allow him to naturally draw out the each performer’s uniqueness with profound grace, imbuing each film with a distinctive and timeless story of its own.
Juan Navarro -- Born and raised in Hialeah (“agua, fango y factoría”) Florida, Juan Navarro has been writing for roughly ten years, making comic books for fifteen, and drawing and painting for over two decades. Fueled by a steady diet of comic books and Heavy Metal, Juan attended several Magnet programs in Miami including the Norland Middle School Arts Program and the Design and Architecture Senior High School. He graduated from the Performing and Visual Arts Center (PAVAC) at Miami Northwestern Senior High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the New World School of the Arts at the University of Florida. He is the creator and artist of the web comic series Zombie Years since 2008, a founding member of Graphicsmash.com, and a founding illustrator for Steampunk Magazine. He also is a co-director of the CS Gallery in North Miami and the Art Director for the Oliva Cigar Company. He has lived and worked in Chicago, Savannah, San Francisco and, of course, his hometown Miami Florida.  Source: creatureentertainment.com
